Twitter’s Unique Advantage for Dating

May 11, 2009

Twitter has taken the world by storm, and for good reason.  It’s an excellent way to build relationships, both business and personal.  Now it’s being used as an excellent dating tool.  Here are a few things that make Twitter unique from the ordinary selection of dating sites:

1. Twitter is more content focused. You can’t search through hundreds of photos and videos like you do on Facebook, Myspace and other online dating sites.  This leads to relationships that are less superficial, built on quality and personality more than physical appearances.

2. The 140 character limit. On Twitter a post, known as a “tweet”, is limited to 140 characters.  This forces you to be concise and memorable.  Less is more – you must capture interest and attention in as few words as possible!

3. People are more open. Twitter is not your typical singles “meat market”.  They are not expecting to just get “hit on” they are expecting to build relationships.

4. Continuous contact. Twitter is a continuous stream, you interact constantly throughout the day. This gives you plenty of time to flirt, better known as “twirting”.

5. Support. You can have support and assistance from both friends and professionals from all over the world, for free.  I tweet help and advice daily (http://twitter.com/140lovebird), as do numerous others.  Apps like www.140love.com will also help you narrow down your search and find potential romantic interests to follow.
